Matching your floor to your wood mini blinds

Most people like to have a slightly darker shade or mini blinds so that it contrasts with the wood of the floor.

But first decide what type of finished look you want to achieve. If you're going for a more modern or contemporary look, you may want to look at a wood species that has a cleaner look with less texture and grain such as Maple, Birch, or Cherry.

If you prefer a more casual or rustic look, then you may want to consider an Oak or Pine. You may want to also look at the furniture you will be placing in the rooms where there will be a wood floor. If you have or will be purchasing wood furniture or accents, be sure that the wood furniture will not clash with your new wooden blinds.

How to clean a mini blind

Hang the top of the blind over the clothesline or pound 2 large nails in a porch, shed, etc at a width so your blinds fit & tall enough so they don't touch the ground. Spray with pure ammonia. Let sit a few min, then spray with hose. Repeat for back side.

Making your own cleaner for most cleanable surfaces
Mix equal parts ammonia, white vinegar, and water. Place in spray bottle. Spray and rinse blinds clean. Other surfaces use old cloths to clean or newsprint for windows
